VolumeKeeper: App Volume
VolumeKeeper is designed to remember media volume preferences on your device. It does not collect screen content, keystrokes, contacts, location, photos, or personal files.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how VolumeKeeper: App Volume ("VolumeKeeper", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Android app.
The short version: VolumeKeeper stores your app volume preferences locally on your device so it can apply the right media volume when you switch apps. We do not sell personal data, we do not use ads, and the app does not send your saved volume preferences to our own server.
Information the app uses
VolumeKeeper may store the following information locally on your device:
- Package names and display names of apps you choose to manage.
- Your saved media volume level for each managed app.
- Whether a managed app is locked, muted, or otherwise configured by you.
- App settings such as theme, auto-learning, pause state, restore behavior, and notification preferences.
- For Pro per-device features, audio output device labels or generated device identifiers, such as speaker, wired output, or a Bluetooth device identifier.
- Schedule and preference data if you use scheduling or backup/import features.
This information is used to provide the app's core features. It is stored with Android local storage technologies such as Room and DataStore.
Accessibility Service disclosure
VolumeKeeper uses Android's AccessibilityService API only to detect which app is currently in the foreground. This lets the app apply the saved media volume for that app.
- The service listens for app window change events.
- The service uses the active app package name to identify the foreground app.
- The service does not read screen text, form fields, messages, passwords, or other visible content.
- The service does not record taps, gestures, or keystrokes.
- The service does not use AccessibilityService for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
Permissions and why they are used
Modify audio settings
Used to set Android media volume according to the preferences you saved. VolumeKeeper is intended for media volume and does not need access to your personal files or messages.
Accessibility service
Used to detect foreground app changes. This is necessary because Android does not provide a simpler regular app API for reliable foreground app detection.
Nearby devices / Bluetooth
Used for Pro per-device volume memory, so the app can distinguish speaker, wired, and Bluetooth outputs. VolumeKeeper does not use this permission to determine your location.
Notifications and foreground service
Used to show service status or pause-state notifications when needed, and to help keep the volume service running reliably.
Battery optimization and boot receiver
Used to help VolumeKeeper continue working after restart and to guide you through manufacturer-specific battery settings that may otherwise stop the service.
Data sharing
VolumeKeeper does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
The app does not send your saved app list, volume preferences, schedules, or device volume rules to our own server. If you export a backup, the backup file is created only because you requested it, and you choose where to save or share it.
Third-party services
VolumeKeeper may use Google Play Billing for Pro purchases. Purchase processing is handled by Google, and Google may process purchase-related information according to its own policies. VolumeKeeper does not receive your full payment card details.
If you open external links from the app, such as a privacy policy or support link, those websites are governed by their own privacy practices.
Backups, transfer, and deletion
VolumeKeeper excludes its shared preferences and database from normal Android cloud backup. Android device-transfer flows may transfer the local database when supported by the operating system.
You can delete saved preferences inside the app by removing individual apps or resetting all learned volumes. You can also delete the app from your device to remove its local app data, subject to Android's normal app data behavior.
Children's privacy
VolumeKeeper is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, platform, or product requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page shows when this policy was last updated.
